BATTERY TESTING (Sheet 2 of 5)
Testing Using Hydrometer (Sheet 1 of 2)
Acid fumes and copper sulphate
particles will injure eyes and skin.
Upon contact, immediately flush
contacted area with water and
obtain medical attention.
Remove six battery caps (A) from battery
(B) to be tested.
Place hydrometer (C) through opening
(D) into battery cell.
Squeeze rubber top (E) of hydrometer
(C) and release slowly to suck in electrolyte
from battery cell.
Suck in enough electrolyte to allow hydrometer float (F) to float freely and not touch
top or bottom of glass tube.
Read the hydrometer (F) markings at eye level.
Using pencil and paper, write down temperature and specific gravity readings.
Repeat steps 2 through 6 above for each of five remaining battery cells.
