HEU LOCKING CYLINDER REPLACEMENT (Sheet 1 of 2)
TOOLS:
1-1/2 in. cylinder rod wrench (stowed right fender box)
Roller head pry bar
SUPPLIES:
Drip pans (suitable containers)
Protective caps and plugs
Pencil (Item 22, Appendix D)
Pipe tape (Item 19, Appendix D)
Masking tape (Item 18, Appendix D)
REFERENCE: LO-12
TM-10
PRELIMINARY PROCEDURE:
Extend locking cylinder (TM-10).
Remove locking cylinder hoses and fittings (page 3-204.13)
REMOVAL:
NOTE
Cap or plug all lines and fittings as they are disconnected. Use container to catch
hydraulic fluid caught in lines. Use masking tape to tag lines for installation.
1.
Use wrench to hold piston rod flats (A) and use pry bar in holes (B) of plugs (C) to remove two plugs (C) from
piston rods (A).
2.
Manually retract locking cylinders (D) (TM-10).
3.
Remove locking cylinder (D) from vehicle.
INSTALLATION:
1.
Position locking cylinder (D) in launcher tongue (E) with all hydraulic ports facing forward.
2.
Manually extend locking cylinder (D).
3.
Manually install plugs (C) on piston rod (A).
4.
Using pry bar through holes (B) in plugs (C) and wrench on flats of piston rods (A), tighten two plugs (C).
