GENERAL MAINTENANCE
GENERAL
General maintenance instructions for cleaning, painting, placing in service, and
preparation for storage or shipment are provided in this work package. Publications
that provide additional information on general shop practice techniques and
preservation are listed in References, WP 0049 00.
CLEANING
1. General Instructions. Cleaning procedures will be the same for the
majority of parts and components on the REB. General cleaning procedures are
detailed in steps 2 through 6.
2. The Importance of Cleaning. Great care and effort are required in all
cleaning operations. The presence of dirt and foreign material is a constant threat to
satisfactory equipment operation and maintenance. The following instructions will
apply to all cleaning operations:
WARNING
Improper cleaning methods and use of unauthorized cleaning
solvents may result in injury to personnel and damage to
equipment.
CAUTION
Keep all related parts and components together. Do not mix
parts.
Failure to comply may result in damage to parts.
a. Clean all parts on pallet and bridge before performing PMCS,
lubrication, and maintenance procedures.
b. Hands must be kept free of any accumulation of grease which can
transfer to pallet or bridge and thereby collect dust and grit.
