DIRECT SUPPORT MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Section I. REPAIR PARTS; SPECIAL TOOLS; TEST, MEASUREMENT, AND DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT (TMDE);
AND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT

COMMON TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT. For authorized common tools and equipment refer to the Modified Table of
Organization and Equipment (I4TOE) applicable to your unit.

SPECIAL TOOLS; TMDE; AND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT. Special tools and test equipment are required to
perform direct and general support maintenance on selected components of the bridge erection boat. The special
tools are listed in the Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC) contained in TM 5-1940-277-20 and in Repair Parts and
Special Tools List TM 5-1940-277-34P. Those specially designed tools required for the boat are listed in Appendix
C of this publication. These items must be fabricated by the maintenance facility requiring their use. The data
required for fabrication are contained in Appendix C of this publication. All specially designed tools required for
Direct and General Support Maintenance are applicable to maintenance of the transmission.

REPAIR PARTS. Repair parts are listed and illustrated in the Repair Parts and Special Tools List (TM 5-1940-277-
34P) covering the direct and general support maintenance for the bridge erection boat.
Section II. TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURES

INTRODUCTION TO TROUBLESHOOTING. This section contains information useful in diagnosing and correcting
unsatisfactory operation or failure of the bridge erection boat. Malfunctions which might occur are listed followed
by probable causes of the malfunction. The corrective action recommended for the probable cause is described.
You should perform the tests, inspections and corrective actions in the order listed. You may be directed to
perform appropriate TROUBLESHOOTING TESTS. This will aid you in locating a particular malfunction. This
manual cannot list all malfunctions that may occur, nor all tests, inspections or corrective actions possible. If a
malfunction is not listed or is not corrected by listed corrective actions consult your supervisor.
