HEU OR EARLY MODEL OVERHEAD CYLINDER REPAIR (Sheet 3 of 6)
11. Using cross-tip screwdriver, remove four screws (K).
12. Remove retainer plate (L).
13. Manually install four 10/32 screws (M) into threaded holes of bushing (N).
14. Use spanner wrench on screws (M), remove bushing (N) from piston rod (J).
15. Remove screws (M).
16. Remove wiper ring (P) from bushing (N).
17. Remove wiper ring (Q) from land ring (R).
18. Using 1-5/16 inch socket, remove eight screws (S).
19. Remove land ring (R).
20. Remove preformed packing (T) from land ring (R).
21. Remove spacer ring (U) from land ring (R).
CAUTION
Use caution when performing next step. Damage to
piston rod (J) could occur.
22. Use screwdriver to remove preformed packing (V) (Early model) or seal pack assembly (V) (HEU model)
from piston rod (J).
CLEANING AND INSPECTION:
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent is toxic and flammable. To prevent personal injury, wear protective
goggles and gloves and use only in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and
clothes and don't breathe vapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat. The flash
point for Type #l Dry Cleaning Solvent is 100F (38C) and for Type #2 is 138F (50C). If
you become dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air immediately and get medical aid.
If contact with eyes is made, wash your eyes with water and get medical aid immediately.
