PERISCOPE MOUNT LID LATCH REPAIR (Sheet 1 of 2)
7/16 in. socket with 1/2 in. drive
TOOLS:
5 in. extension with 1/2 in. drive
Ratchet with 1/2 in. drive
Crocus cloth (Item 5, Appendix D)
SUPPLIES:
Steel wool (Item 16, Appendix D)
Lockwashers (2 required)
REFERENCE:
Close driver's hatch (TM 5-5420-226-1 O)
PRELIMINARY PROCEDURE:
DISASSEMBLY:
Using socket and extension, loosen two screws
1.
(A) on underside of mount (B) at latch (C).
Supporting latch (C) with one hand, remove two screws (A)
2.
and two lockwashers (D). Throw lockwashers (D) away.
3.
Lower latch (C) from mount (B) together with latch spring
(E) and shim (F).
With latch (C) removed from mount (B), separate latch from shim
4.
(F) and remove spring (E).
