Stopping, accelerating, turning, shifting of gears on the bridge is not permittedduring Caution or Risk crossings and should be kept to a minimum duringNormal crossings.8. For two-lane traffic, ramp plates should be used to aid two-lane traffic on andoff the bridge. Lane traffic should be staggered, with vehicles entering bridge ata minimum of 50 ft (15 m) intervals into alternate lanes.WARNINGWhen performing bridge operations using IFB baysinterconnected with IRB bays, observe IFB tabled dataonly (TM 5-5420-209-12). Failure to comply may resultin damage to equipment and injury or death topersonnel.NOTEWhen connecting IFB bays with IRB bays, refer to TM5-5420-209-12 for operating instructions unique to IFBbays.9. When bridges are built with IFB bays intermixed with IRB bays, the bridgeratings are reduced to IFB bridge ratings. As much as possible within the scopeof a mission, keep the mixing of bays to a minimum, connect all IFB baystogether, and connect all IRB bays together with only one IFB-IRB interface.Vehicle crossing speeds and vehicle spacing will be identical to those givenabove. The following MLC rating table applies whenever IFB bays areintermixed with IRB bays.
