Removable insert blocks are provided on the bay-to-bay ends ofinner pontons only. Inner-to-inner ponton coupling locatingrecesses are welded in place and will not be removed at unit levelmaintenance.REMOVALNOTEPerform steps 1 through 3 to remove connector lever and bracket.Perform steps 4 and 5 to remove receptacle blocks.1.Remove spring (8) from pin (6) and lever (9).2.Remove two screws (4) and bracket (10) from receptacle block (11).3.Remove two cotter pins (5), washers (7), pin (6), and lever (9) from bracket (10). Discard cotter pins (5).CAUTIONDo not overheat area around block or damage to aluminum mayoccur.Receptacle blocks must be removed by driving them straight upand out of inner pontons, or damage to equipment may result.NOTEHeat area around block to loosen sealing compound beforeremoving block.4.Remove four screws (3) and receptacle block (11) from end of inner ponton (12).5.Remove four screws (1) and receptacle block (2) from end of inner ponton (12).6.Perform steps 1 through 5 to remove remaining connector levers and receptacle blocks.INSTALLATIONNOTEPerform steps 1 and 2 to install receptacle blocks, if removed.Apply unlike metal compound to all mating surfaces of receptacleblocks and inner ponton prior to installation.1.Install receptacle block (2) on end of inner ponton (12) with four screws (1).2.Install receptacle block (11) on end of inner ponton (12) with four screws (3).NOTEPerform steps 3 through 5 to install coupling lever and bracket.3.Install lever (9) on bracket (10) with pin (6), two washers (7), and new cotter pins (5).4.Install bracket (10) on receptacle block (11) with two screws (4).5.Install spring (8) on pin (6) and lever (9).6.Perform steps 1 through 5 to install remaining receptacle blocks and connector levers.7.Fold bay and install bay on transporter (TM 5-5420-278-10).
