PMCS must be performed more frequentlywhen operating under unusual conditions.Perform all checks and services per the designated intervals specified in the PMCS tables. Serviceintervals are for normal operation of the bridge in moderate temperatures, humidity, and atmosphericconditions. The intervals are hard-time intervals which are performed per the bridge’s age or calendartime. The hard-time intervals are based on calendar time. An example of a calendar interval issemiannually (every six months).SPECIFIC PMCS PROCEDURESThe following is a list of the PMCS table column headings with a description of the information found ineach column.a. Item Number. This column shows the sequence in which the checks and services are to beperformed, and is used to identify the equipment area on the Equipment Inspection and MaintenanceWorksheet, DA Form 2404/5988-E.b. Interval. This column shows when each check is to be performed.c. Location/Item To Check/Service. This column lists the location of the item to be inspected bypart, component, or assembly name.d. Item to be Inspected/Procedures. This column identifies the general area or specific part wherethe check or service is to be done and explains how to do it.NOTEThe terms ready/available and mission capable refer to the samestatus: equipment is on hand and is able to perform its combatmission. Refer to DA Pam 738-750.e. Equipment Not Ready/Available If:. This column lists conditions that make the equipmentunavailable for use because it is unable to perform its mission, or because it would represent a safetyhazard. Do not accept or operate equipment with a condition in the “Equipment Is Not Ready/Available If”column.REPORTING DEFICIENCIESIf any problem with the equipment is discovered during PMCS or while it is being operated that cannotbe corrected at the unit maintenance level, it must be reported. Refer to DA Pam 738-750 and report thedeficiency on Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet, DA Form 2404.
