TM 5-5420-278-24&P0034 000034 00-2PUMP FILTER ELEMENT REPLACEMENT (Contd)REMOVALWARNINGAccidental or intentional introduction of liquid contaminants intothe environment is in violation of state, federal, and militaryregulation. refer to Army POL (WP 0001 00) for informationconcerning storage, use and disposal of these liquids. Failure to doso may result in injury or death.NOTEBoth pumps have a filter element and are removed and installedthe same. This task covers only one filter element. Have container ready to catch fluids.WARNINGRelieve residual pressure on fluid system before disconnectinglines by moving control valve lever to all positions and thenplacing lever in transport/crossing position. Failure to do so mayresult in injury or death.1.Remove hose assembly (7) from neutral quick-disconnect coupling fitting (9) on bracket (8).2.Remove four nuts (6), lockwashers (5), screws (2), and washers (3) from two pump mountingbrackets (4) and support brackets (10). Discard lockwashers (5).3.Stand pump assembly (1) on end to access pump reservoir access cover (11).4.Remove four screws (17), lockwashers (16), and pump reservoir access cover (11) with O-ring (12)from pump reservoir (14). Discard lockwashers (16).5.Remove O-ring (12) from access cover (11). Discard O-ring (12). NOTEThere are two types of filter elements used on the IRB; one filterelement has an O-ring and is pulled off of filter support post. Theother filter element has threads and is unscrewed from filtersupport post.6.Using flat spanner wrench, pull or unscrew filter element (13) from filter support tube (15) insidepump reservoir (14). Discard filter element (13).INSTALLATIONNOTEThere are two types of filter elements used on the IRB; one filterelement has an O-ring and is pushed down onto filter supportpost. The other filter element has threads and is screwed ontofilter support post.1.Apply fluid to O-ring on filter element (13) and push or screw new filter element (13) down on filtersupport tube (15) inside pump reservoir (14).2.Apply fluid to new O-ring (12) and install O-ring (12) on pump reservoir access cover (11).3.Install access cover (11) on pump reservoir (14) with four new lockwashers (16) and screws (17).4.Position pump assembly (1) on two support brackets (10) and install four washers (3), screws (2),new lockwashers (5), and nuts (6).5.Install hose assembly (7) on neutral quick-disconnect coupling fitting (9).6.Fill pump reservoir (WP 0032 00).7.Connect inner pontons (WP 0023 00) or fold bay and install on transporter (TM 5-5420-278-10).
